frick about safety. I work in a factory without air conditioning. We complain during the summer about potential heat strokes with our humid conditions. It falls on deaf ears but we need a needle in our arms at a place that has had no hospitalizations from Covid. Please!!! Federal gov't pretending to give a shite cracks me up.

I’m no fan of OSHA but it sounds like your employer doesn’t give f… about your safety

I know the feeling. I knew someone that passed out over the heat, he went home. The only way to cool off was the use of commercial fans and the break room which was a 10 minute walk.

But if OSHA cared they would force the employer to provide it. We can afford new machines that cost in the 6 figures all the time so money isn't an issue. Obviously, our place should care but why is OSHA not enforcing safety on that reasoning but Covid which is useless.

I used to laugh when people asked about getting hired where I worked. When they asked if it was air conditioned I knew they didn't really want a job.

In the late 80s I had a summer construction job, and OSHA visited us early in the summer to give us edicts to stop using casters on scaffolding, always wear harnesses when working at heights, and always wear hard hats in mid-90s temperatures. They told me, at 19 years old, that they could imprison me for 5 years and/or fine me $250,000 if I lied to them.

I knew instantly that I could lie to them non-stop because they’d never get $250,000 out of my broke arse, and any lie I told them wasn’t worth giving me free shelter, clothing, and 3 squares for 5 years.

We took the casters off the scaffolding for about a week and used harnesses and hard hats for about the same.

The far majority don't as the employee is seen as a liability.

Who do you complain to? Put in an anonymous complaint to OSHA. They will show up.

It's morons like you that are the reason so many shops are not air conditioned.

If you work for a multi-billion dollar corporation, the company makes money when an employee dies.

Insurance is a fricking scam.

Oh, people complain. They show up a couple times a year. They jot it down but it's ignored. They end up making our job harder with useless stuff on our machines that don't do anything. That's why I've always thought OSHA was useless. Federal gov't has never had our best interest

Osha would show up and find several employees on the ground passed out. They would step over them and give a warning that they aren't wearing safety glasses to the other employees. A fine would be issued next time as Osha leaves the building.

That would never happen as they will need to give raises to other big wigs.

In a previous life I was a Safety Engineer. I almost got my arse kicked by a prison gang dude over a respirator violation.

Our apologies. We will get you some big arse fans and an hvac unit that will keep the ambient temp between 65 and 68 degrees F. Anything else you'd like? How about a reinforced roof to shield from potential meteor strikes? Or how about a moat with crocodiles around the plant to protect from potential invasion of terrorists?
