Its the same group involved in the Public Defender bullshite.

But this is a civl and federal crime so it wont go away. And where are the judges? did the subpoenas look real?

The feds need to take that office over, now. This is no different that a rogue sheriff or police department that is corrupt to the core.

And where they judges?

how could you show your face in a court room if your name was signed to one of these "DA subpoenas"?

i'd be so embarrassed and, likely, scared

the first comment is gold, too

The Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office did not immediately return a request for comment.

Well, sheesh, C.J. -- send 'em a fake subpoena!

My guess is they looked legit, but its evidence you signed some shite without looking at the record.

Absolutely. It sounds like the entire office needs to be cleaned out. It's hard to defend the justice system when stuff like this is allowed to happen for years. Prison sentences need to be handed down, not just removal from office while still collecting their pension. Prosecutors need to be held to the highest of standards.

these aren't real subpoenas, though

they just made fake ones to intimidate witnesses into coming to the DAs office to talk

then, apparently, they had some of those who didn't show up arrested and held with high bonds because they didn't respond to fake subpoenas

What were the judges role in this?

They might.

But are you willing to join law enforcement or work for the prosecution (or be a public defender) if you are a lawyer?

I wouldn't. New Orleans or any city with similar problems is ungovernable if you want to do it like you would in a small town in Maine.

How exactly would you go about being a prosecutor in New Orleans? Let's say there is a shootout. The cops show up while it is winding down. Get a couple guys red handed, and some dead bodies on the ground. Tons of witnesses.

Then you go to court. And NO ONE SHOWS UP TO TESTIFY. You really think you can make all that stuff in the Constituion work in that scenario? Regardless of whether something is "Right" or "Wrong," do you think you can make it work? At all?

New Orleans got the DA's office it needed. And probably the one it deserved.

I'd love to see him and Cannizarro go head to head.

Holy crap.

quote:

A victim of domestic violence who was jailed for five days is among a group of people suing Orleans Parish District Attorney Leon Cannizzaro and 10 of his subordinates, alleging that prosecutors used dirty tricks to force witnesses to testify.

The lawsuit, filed Tuesday in federal court, takes aim at the New Orleans prosecutor’s controversial use of so-called “fake subpoenas” to pressure witnesses to talk, as well as arresting material witnesses who refuse to cooperate. Cannizzaro has since ended the former practice.

DA's have every advantage and still cheat to win cases.
