Children can quickly use basic empathy and realize if I didn't like it when you hit me so I cried, and you cried when I hit you, then maybe we shouldn't hit one another.
Yet, when those same children become adults, they can't apply such a simple process to politics, despite apparent frustration, confusion, and concern that politics has become so divisive, toxic, and unproductive, even counterproductive.
I'm beginning we all lose about 30 points of our IQ when we discuss politics.
