I'll be the first one to admit that I would handle the PR aspect of signature numbers differently, but its a strategy they chose. They have said all along they wanted 20k, as to have cushion. There is no reason to rush to turn in 18k when they have until September to drop them for a 2014 election.

I think the secretive nature of the count has also hurt the number of volunteers in the core group. Again, I might have done things differently, but there is certainly a valid strategy to what they have done.

Will they be annexing the residential areas which are currently unincorporated?

They can only annex those who, for whatever reason, want to be annexed.

Are you against allowing land owners to decide whether or not they want to be within the city limits or not?

I seriously doubt that and that's part of the core issue here.

Of course not. The core issue is that St. George leaders want the sales tax revenue from properties they don't own. They say its about the children but no children live on these properties.

Sorry, its hard to keep track of the BS you have posted on St.George. I should stick with your normal list so I don't get them mixed up.

You have said:

38 million
9+2-2=11
Bodi White withdrew his bill
The annexation is a done deal
Rainey is getting paid
$100k raised
Signatures for 2 years
No SG paperwork filed

All governments want the taxes that are legally theirs to collect. SG is no different than any other govt if they become a city.

It's ridiculous to say otherwise.

It's up to the people to decide if they want a new govt and the taxes will follow. That is how our system works. It's up to the people.

I, along with every person I know, am moving out of BR with a quickness. We are all tired of this nonsense.

And those people have every right to leave and/or form their own city. Nobody is stopping them.

But they will try and cherry pick and take what they can while they can.

But hey, nobody here is naïve enough to think govt. isn't greedy and power hungry. EBR is no different. They will fight for every dollar they can get.

It is what it is.

The city thing has taken eyes off the real problem which isn't police protection, fire protection, garbage pick up, or any of the basic city/parish services we get.

The problem is the poor school system is crippling the parish economy, parish growth and hurting the children who want to learn and can't afford private school or who aren't eligible for magnet schools.

But like I said, it is what it is.

EBR will run Taylor off, they'll have another search, but the same people in the administration who told us the state was on a witch hunt and everything is fine will still be in control of the schools. Nothing will change.

The magnet people will be happy, they'll get their kids educated by the better teachers in the better schools, and the unions and status quo types will be happy as their rank and file keep their jobs.

It is the same old cycle.
