Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said Beijing was opposed to Taiwan, which China considers a renegade province, sending its own representatives to “engage in activities to interfere in or damage China-US ties.”

“We again urge the relevant side in the United States not to allow the Taiwan authority to send a so-called delegation to the United States to attend the presidential inauguration and not have any form of official contact with Taiwan,” Hua told a news briefing on Wednesday.

“China’s position has already accurately and unmistakably been given to the US administration and Trump’s team,” she added, noting that China’s ambassador to the United States, Cui Tiankai, will attend the inauguration

Nothing. China is all talk. The fact they think they can tell us who we can or can't invite is laughable.

Even teasing the idea of a "two China" policy is a nice thing to hold over China's head if they start getting too uppity.

Even if we nominally uphold the "one China" policy, this is something in the back of their minds whenever they start playing games.

China doesn't know what to do. They're used to being able to seize our equipment and do whatever they feel like without any diplomatic move to counter because we didn't want to offend them as they laughed in our face.

They are officially at the big boy table now, it's time to learn to act like it.

Not without full-scale war. The second China made preparations for a move at Taiwan, the US and many other allies would be down on China with the quickness.

We are not allied with taiwan. We don't even recognize a one China policy and any shift here is msjor.

Secondly why would we want to put boots on the ground for an internal Chinese conflict. That's stupid there is no way to win that.

You are wrong.

From The Taiwan Relations Act of 1979.
quote:

TRA Sections 2 and 3 contain the key provisions with respect to military defense of Taiwan. Section 2 declares as a matter of U.S. policy that the U.S. expects the “future of Taiwan will be determined by peaceful means,” that “any effort to determine the future of Taiwan by other than peaceful means, including by boycotts or embargoes, [is] a threat to the peace and security of the Western Pacific area”, and “to maintain the capacity of the United States to resist any resort to force or other forms of coercion that would jeopardize the security, or the social or economic system, of the people on Taiwan.”

Section 3 implements this policy by requiring that the U.S. government “make available to Taiwan such defense articles and defense services in such quantity as may be necessary to enable Taiwan to maintain a sufficient self-defense capability.” It further requires the President “to inform the Congress promptly of any threat to the security or the social or economic system of the people on Taiwan and any danger to the interests of the United States arising therefrom.” Finally, the TRA requires the “President and the Congress shall determine, in accordance with constitutional processes, appropriate action by the United States in response to any such danger.”

Seriously. Don't talk when you don't have a flying frickclue about the subject.

The US is absolutely allied with Taiwan. And we absolutely will get involved if China made a military move against Taiwan.

Well, President Tsai Ing-wen would disagree on your usage of "internal".
