"Trump's coverage during his first 100 days set a new standard for negativity," study author Thomas Patterson wrote. "Trump's coverage was unsparing. In no week did the coverage drop below 70 percent negative and it reached 90 percent negative at its peak."

Yeah but Trump derives it for being mean, and telling women they are beautiful, and muh Russians and muh treason.

And its in no way Trumps fault right? If you tell a lie and the press calls you out on the lie it is considered negative press but you can't blame it on the press.

The press is harder on Republican Presidents. It's been that way for decades. You have to be completely insane to not admit that this administration has brought much of it on themselves through a series of self-inflicted wounds.

All reasonable points. Do you honestly believe, though, that the negativity has been commensurate to the circumstances?

If Nick Saban were to quit today and Alabama hired someone else to be coach and that guy went 0-12, I think the new coach would have a boatlaod more of negative coverage than Saban did in his last year of coaching.

In other words maybe Trump gets negative coverage because he stinks.

BTW - I am not compaing Obama to Saban of course, just needed an analogy of "change" and it's the first one that came into my head.

He certainly doesn't do himself any favors. But let's be honest, nothing good that Trump has done will be reported on. The media's sole reason for existing is to resist Trump. Just like Hillary/Obama wanted.

I think cajunangelle wants you to change the title.

Mostly no but you can also argue that that is self-inflicted also. If you declare war on the press, you probably shouldn't be surprised when they dig a little deeper for dirt on you to print.

How about you do something crazy and be a professional and just report the news? Something silly like that.

You have to be completely insane to think the press would behave any differently no matter what trump does.

You would have to be completely insane to see their utter lack of professionalism on election night and not know exactly what they would do

How about Trump be professional and ignore the news and do his job instead of being so damned thin skinned? Is that silly?

Do we know for sure who threw the first punch?

By all accounts it was the media... They loved Trump when he was a candidate they could prop up for Hillary to knock down easily. He appeared regulary on CNN during the election to talk to them about issues. Slowly but surely the negative coveraged seeped in and Trump noticed he wasn't getting a fair shake.

I feel like The media is Japan and Trump is the USA. They awakened a sleeping giant.
