'¡No, no puede!': New White House begins with English-only website

Donald Trump will not be 'El Presidente,' judging from the website his White House launched on Friday.
The new whitehouse.gov, unlike the online home of the Obama administration, has no Spanish-language content.
Visiting the old White House website address for content 'en Español' brings Web surfers to an error page.
The newly minted president made a point during the Republican primary season of his preference for immigrants to learn English, mocking former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush for speaking Spanish on the campaign trail.
'We have a country where to assimilate, you have to speak English,' Trump declared during a September 2015 debate.
'We have to have assimilation to have a country,' Trump added. 'We have to have assimilation. ... This is a country where we speak English, not Spanish.'
Then-candidate Trump told ABC News weeks earlier that 'while we're in this nation, we should be speaking English.'
Trump uttered only Spanish word during the 23 debates and televised forums in which he participated, and it didn't help him.
'We have some bad hombres here, and we're gonna get ’em out,' he said in an October debate with Hillary Clinton, referring to illegal immigrants who remained in the United States despite convictions for violent crimes.
The chairman and CEO of U.S. English, the nation's most vocal advocate of making English the official language of the United States, told DailyMail.com that the Trump administration shouldn't give Spanish-speakers any special dispensation.
'Maybe if they're going to do it in Spanish, they should also use all 323 languages spoken in the United States, right?' asked Mauro Mujica. 'Why just one and not the other 322?'

Spicer said today that they're still working on the Spanish website and they're trying to get it up and running ASAP.

Yep.
He can re-read Mein Kampf to keep himself occupied.

First off, dumb move.. But to this guy's point, the U.S. has more Spanish speakers than Spain and the 2nd most in the world at 52 million. Just seems like a petty, pointless battle that just plays directly into the left's hand. Let the down-votes rain down, but you guys are fanboys to the point Obama supporters were, you just don't know it. Dumb, petty move.

Support 100%. Don't like, then just leave is the best politically correct means of addressing this. Just imagine the billions saved with this alone, i.e., English only.

Billions saved to host a website that translates English into Spanish or speaks directly to legal immigrants? Surely you jest. The fact is, there is going to be a large sector of naturalized Hispanics that are Americans whom comprehend Spanish better when reading. I see absolutely zero purpose in this move. The costs are negligible, especially considering he could easily gain a large chunk of Hispanics for republicans at mid-terms and reelection.

How do you know they aren't already using it? Do you not think they try to learn the language when they're here? Would you perpetually only speak your native tongue in a foreign land if you're naturalizing or assimilating into the culture? It's just so petty to me. I can't understand the huge support here for this move. It's not good for the party or the relationship with Hispanics.

You and I are on different planes of thought. If you are a U.S. citizen and cannot speak English, you "should have broken a law". If you are illegal, I could give a flying $%@k what you can or can't read on any government webpage. Your arse should be thrown out of the country because you are not a legal member of a sovereign country.
In regard to costs savings, here's a hint...I'm not referring to webpage dual language options.

My grandfather was brought here as a baby. His parents did not speak English. He would go to school and come home and help them learn. They eventually didn't allow German to be spoken anymore in the house once they learned enough. My grandpa grew up to be a gunner in a Sherman tank against Germans and was as red blooded American as you could imagine.
The point is there are many in the immigrant community that do not want to assimilate, unlike many other immigrants.
I will say that those that do want to be Americans work their arse off to assimilate.
The Rosetta Stone comment was made in jest any which way.

Just noticed Trump isn't wearing a wedding ring.

Correct, and the true colors seem to be shining through on this board on this specific topic. Every non-english speaking country I have looked into acquiring work visas to have had English websites. I appreciate that fact. Furthermore, I would imagine that when I got there, it would be very helpful for me to gain pertinent government knowledge in order to assimilate to the best of my ability while I learn more of their native tongue.
I just can't fathom the "'merica, English only dammit" attitude. Hispanics contribute a lot, especially behind the scenes. I am all for border control and legal immigration, but what I am not for is alienating those that did things the right way and are here trying to assimilate and contribute.

For your point on Germans (as my father's side is), there is a large sector of the population that learns basic/intermediate English due to their public school system. Furthermore, we don't share a border with Germany. I would think - although I could be wrong - that considering we border the largest Spanish speaking country in the world, we should probably be a little more open to their native tongue.
