So here are the two sides I hear and don’t know which is right

Republicans love to say that it was the democrats who were the racist and Jim Crow laws were all dems. So they say the rep party is the party of lincoln and civil rights

Dems say the two parties switched? And Nixon needed to appeal to whites in south who were racist and therefore the current electoral demographics.

To be fair LBJ did sign the civil righty act. So what is the real story here? Can someone with out partisan leanings explain what happend. Also why do republicans struggle with black voters?

If the parties switched & the south is racist, then why did the South not go solidly Republican until the mid 80s to 90’s?

Bill Clinton won LA ffs.

Of the 21 Democrat senators who opposed the civil rights act, only 1 switched to the Republican Party. The rest stayed and died as Democrats.

Nixon lost the south in 68, Carter won it in 76, Clinton won GA, Tenn, KY, LA, WV in 92.

Civil Rights act was 1964. Southern congressional seats didn’t swing Republican until 1994, did it take 30 years to turn racist?

frick off Troll OP

Every older black person I talk to about politics they usually start with telling me they their mama told them to vote for the party that helps the people. Democrats have created the narrative that they help the people in need. No further investigation by the individuals after that.

LBJ lost his first race in Texas. He didn't get the majority of black votes. LBJ stated after that loss that he would never be out -iggered again. Fill in the blank. He was a racist.

Nailed it.

Storm Thurmond is the only Dem to switch to republican post civil rights act.

The rest of the “racist areas” in the south didn’t go republican till the late 90s (outside of Reagan... but everybody voted for Reagan.)

It is important to understand the history of each party, yes. We used to have Republicans advocating for universal basic income and other socialist policies. However, parties clearly switched ideals some time ago. I'm not saying by any means that all Republicans are racist, that would be absurd. I can however say that most racists who I have the displeasure of knowing IRL are faithful Republicans.

That’s crazy because every democrat i know irl practices the soft bigotry of low expectations and racism by claiming minorities can’t get into schools/jobs on merit alone & they can’t get even get an ID to vote, they’re THAT incapable.

Now tell me, who’s the racist party as a whole?

Keep it coming, I can bitchslap you all night
