She just received this yesterday(3 weeks late due to floods), to learn about current events. First thing I am gonna ask is does anyone else see a problem with the definitions, and second the first thing that came to mind was listening to the speeches given by Hillary and the left, the trigger words they used.

My daughter stood her ground on some of the definitions saying they were wrong, and got a verbal warning on her conduct sheet as a result for disrupting the class. I understand they may be dumbing it down for a second grader, but the correct definition is the correct definition. I may be over reacting, but I'm kinda ticked off about it.

What definitions would you used for these words?

Is the pic Framed correctly now?

Supreme Court does not exist to ensure fair laws. It exists to ensure that laws are constitutional and applied as intended within the framework of the constitution.

Scalia used to say that he wished he could use a rubber stamp that said "stupid but constitutional" as his opinion.

Rights- things which cannot be taken away from us without due process or compelling reason.

Vote- good lord, where to begin on that one....

meh.
For a 2nd grader those seem fine.

For example, the "Citizen" definition seems a little loose, but it depends on context. Obviously as defined there, "citizen" does not address legal US citizenship. It does acknowledge members of a town, city, etc. though.

Which one or ones is troubling for you?

I don't like the supreme Court one much.

The SC definition is odd in that they are not to determine fairness but apply the laws written (see Obamacare rule of Roberts) and the service definition; I see service as something done for others, but I can understand the logic here that a service is performed for us.

Don't get too rigid dad. It'll all be good.

It bugged me that "right" is used in the definition of "freedom" and "free" is used in the definition of "right"

Well these are the ones my daughter brought up, and expressed her concern about:
Citizen, Government, Rights, Service, Congress, Supreme Court, and Independence.

Basically we have made an effort to teach her the correct definitions, and while the teacher said she was neither wrong, or was unsure if she was wrong, that she was being a disruption to the class and got a warning.

I guess just watching all the current events with all the snowflakes melting as bad as they are, and now seeing first hand all the new methods of teaching and how it is taught I have an issue with it. I mean honestly how many of those that are absolutely losing there shite right now truely feel that a citizen is basically anyone who lives here, and the Supreme Court is about fairness???

My daughter was mad that she got her one and only conduct issue of the year because she was right, but questioned the teacher.

Number 11 is incomplete.

Under Obamacare there are consequences for no action.

Its 2nd grade. I'm fine with those definitions.

And the definition of citizen can absolutely be as simple as someone living in a community.

Maybe you should post it on Facebook. I'm sure you'll get the outrage you're looking for.
