I always thought this was one of those moves that turned out to be awkward and backfired.

Mary Landrieu, live on TV shrieking, "Why is there only one crane????," as a barge with a crane on it tried to repair the 17th street canal after Katrina.
That canal is a drainage canal, not a shipping channel and only one barge could fit. The barge could only hold one Loader.

I hate to ruin a great story, but he was trying to be metaphorical. I have a relative who worked in the capitol at the time. He was friends with his staff.

Meh, I think that is overblown. So he showed some emotion, big deal. The reaction to that "ye-hah!" (constant mockery by everyone but comedians in general) is why we end up with the plastic phonies we have now.
