You said it's dying but that is not what the article says.

Link one that shows it's dying to support your claim.

You mean the school with only 378 students?

Sounds like a bigger problem is in the town and not because of football

The article doesn't suggest it's dying nationally

You are basically paying people willing to give up their bodies to fight cage match style.

How many people would fly head-first into another player if they didn't have a helmet? Maybe less protective gear is an option? I mean, the sport would still be violent, but maybe there'd be some restraint on certain types of collisions, particularly from the neck up. I dunno, are there any CTE studies from ex rugby players?

From a branding standpoint 'tho, it'd be a tough sell, because quite frankly, those helmets are a good look...

Your article points out demographics, more kids specializing in one sport, costs as other reasons for the drop. Which is true.

Our starting QB pulled out of football when offered a baseball scholly.

When I grew up we played multiple sports. Now, kids focus on one in hopes of scholarships. Travel teams have increased and go year round. Overall sports participation has increased year after year. Does the concussion scare play into it? Absolutely, but saying it's dying is hyperbole.

Now they know...it's their eyes wide open choice. A lot of these guys have this one chance to make this kind of money to change the trajectory of their family fortunes.

They make enough money and earn enough glory to where 99% of the population would swap places with them in a heartbeat. These guys can get dimes who would never look in your general direction at the snap of a finger.

That's how.
