Microsoft and NBC officially call it quits

quote:

The Internet partnership of Microsoft and NBC is officially over.

NBC News announced this evening that it had acquired full control of MSNBC.com from the software giant and was rebranding the site as NBCNews.com. NBC will continue to provide news content to MSN.com, a Microsoft news portal, which will reciprocate by sending traffic back to the network, NBC said.

For the short term, MSNBC.com will mirror the home page of NBCNews.com and eventually become the address of MSNBC TV.

I always thought it was an odd partnership. Maybe MS was trying to attract eyeballs and all that but it just isn't their core business.

Microsoft is thrilled that they no longer have to use MSNBC as their news portal. They can find a less biased source for their news content that will not alienate so many users. This is not good news for NBC.

Can't wait to see the demise of the likes of Christie and Ed.
