As a kid he watched his family member be shot by Castro's revolution... firing squad. He turned to music and the violin. He became known as a great violinist. He was ordered to play for Castro later on. He refused.... the military went to get him and at gun point, forced him to play.....

He did... He played the Star Spangled banner.

Reminds me of when Bill Clinton had a little Cuban boy taken at gunpoint from his home in America and sent back to Fidel Castro's Cuba.

Disgraceful, and on Easter Sunday no doubt.

It was a tough call for me but in the end I decided the father had the right to have custody of his son.

That story and performance moved me to patriotic tears. To be honest though, it would have been much better had he performed it on a fiddle.

If you remember that then you may recall Elian's cousin, Marislasis.

That decision undoubtedly cost Al Gore the state of Florida and therefore the election.

If Gore had won there would have been no war in Iraq and therefore no Obama. Likely no Trump either.

You have to be a real fricking piece of shite to think that kid shouldn't have been returned to his father who had custodial rights.

You're obviously not a dad.

It's not even a tough call. Anyone advocating for the kid to not be returned to his dad deserve to be taken out back and have the shite beaten out of him by a few dozen dads who have been screwed over in custody battles.

Was reading about the little tyke that is no longer little about 4-5 months ago. He's now a member of the Communist Party in Cuba. He's now 21 years old.

So, maybe he needs to stay in Cuba as far as I'm concerned.

I'm glad there are others here who agree with me.

I always thought Elian should be returned to his father when his father said he wanted custody of him but I just hated that Elian had to go back to Cuba in order to accomplish it.

And he probably wouldn't be a billionaire either.

I say he came out on top.
