Saw video on Fox of a guy that stayed in the exact room last year for the same concert. It is indeed a big room with many windows. It wraps around corner.

There's 43 floors in the MB Hotel. This guy purposefully and thoughtfully got a corner suite on the 32nd floor with windows that have two different lines of sight to maximize his spread angles.
The rooms have alarms on them when windows are broken, so this is how the hotel and police knew so quickly the exact room number and name of the person who paid for it.

I heard one reporter for FOX say that there was so much smoke from rifle fire that it actually set off the smoke alarm helping track down the rooms so quickly.
Both scenarios make perfect sense.

Eh, not really. I mean what's that going to do? How reliable would that be? They'd probably have false alarms all the time?
If someone is going to break a window and jump, security is not going to get there fast enough to save them. They still have to knock, you can't just bust in for a false alarm.

It did. They have alarms that trigger when a window breaks, so they know exactly where to go and who is in the room. That's presumably why the security guard went up there to check it out and got shot.

Best case you've drunkenly broke their property and probably won't hesitate to immediately bust down the door and fine you thousands of dollars for what it costs to fix that window and the money lost on the days it will take to get it replaced. They don't frick around with that.
And also due to the fact that he broke the window, the police immediately knew who he was as well.
