Well to the extent that sources are so consolidated, it's unfortunate. That doesn't mean listening to a crazy uncle make shite up is a viable solution.

There ain't a person I despise more than a pompous reporter. They have absolutely no reason to talk down to anyone. They are human parrots. They don't actually do anything. They aren't thinkers. They aren't builders. They do not move society forward in any meaningful way. They simply exist to tell us what other people are doing.

The vast majority of people bringing us the "news" are no longer reporters of yesteryear. What they do now any high school senior could do. Read what is printed on the monitor and accept it as the gospel. Reporting is investigating the story first and adding personal comments second.
That is no longer the norm with today's media. Rather sad actually.

Any message they send isn't their own. They are professional posturers. They read about what others have done or are doing, put on makeup, dial up a fake smile, and talk. They are talkers in a world that was built by doers - much like today's politicians.

Pissgate as reported by the mainstream press was based upon an executive summary derived from an actual report compiled by an actual investigator and briefed up to the actual president and president-elect of the United States by the country's senior intelligence officers. CNN covered the fact that the report existed and that it alleged Russian attempts to compromise the president-elect. Mainstream reporting left out the salacious details and emphasized that even the allegations of compromise were uncorroborated.
How the hell is that fake news? Pizzagate was fake news. Something based in fantasy and conjecture. This was real news. It just happened to be real news you didn't like. Buzzfeed was the only semi-serious media outfit that went into the naughty details.

Not sure, I found it posted as a comment on disqus. The point is that all these made up stories are getting worse. I don't listen to any of them anymore. NBC, ABC, CNN, CBS, the are all liars, have been for many years.
Even when they do a "documentary" or expose', they alter interviews to suit their story line. They are liars!

Fox even slipped a little a couple of years ago but is doing better now.
