Louisiana republican flees interview...

Are politicians in general just idiots saying what the stupid masses want to hear?
In this particular case, this politician panders to exactly what her base wants her to say and when actually interviewed about her beliefs, she totally messes it up.
Now this is not only a republican thing, though this example is one.
It has gotten me thinking that many politicians simply echo stupid statements that their base wants them to say and when faced with an interview regarding such stances, they are left flailing, unable to back up anything they say.
Are politicians and their handlers this stupid that they don't even think to have reasonable statements to make to back up their statements? I mean heck, give me five minutes and I could come up with reasonable sounding reasons to have some of those beliefs.

Both are pretty easy to answer and the Republicans will believe what she says.

Lenar Whitney, while I agree with the bulk of her ideology, ain't the sharpest tool in the shed.
In fact, I'd bet she's the least informed on issues, budgets, etc. out of all the candidates in the 6th Congressional race.
All that said...I'd still trust her to represent the taxpayers and manage our. money over a convicted and formerly incarcerated felon.

Absolutely not. Both sides are susceptible to "suggestion" from their "leaders".
I mean, look at Tuba, Rex, Norris, TTR, etc. Al Gore has them all under his green spell.

The lady was obviously unprepared to ask those questions, but you have to wonder why no one asks Edwin where he hid the money, Nancy why she believes Hamas is a humanitarian group, or why no one asks Reid why he believes the border is secure.
It seems journalists love to ask hard hitting (and appropriate) questions to Republicans but Dems get a free softballs and a free pass.

Many people don't know who our neighbors to the north and south of our country are.
I would like to think that our leaders are much better than what is typical. It is not difficult to be much better educated than is average. There is an incredibly uneducated anchor of people in this country.
Anyways, the vast majority of politicians have left me beyond totally unimpressed when I have interacted with them in any meaningful way.
I know that I shouldn't expect any better but I hope for better.

I could run something. I think it would be fun to be a dictator: absolute authority, a balcony, funny military uniforms, a giant mustache, I can park anywhere I want in NYC when the UN is in session, ect. Sounds like a blast to me

I only said that to say that they are better than representative of the people. They aren't going to be on par with a theoretical physicist from MIT or anything. I mean how many people of a given high-end profession do you interact with and routinely find yourself impressed with their obvious intelligence. I think I've had one doctor in my life (an ophthamologist named Dr. Eustis) who honestly left me with the impression that "this is a smart SOB".

Education correlates pretty well with intelligence actually. There isn't a "no exceptions" criterion for correlation. And besides education, pols' median incomes, personal wealth, etc. are substantially higher than state and national averages.
