Unless they're in CA and the dad identifies with being a woman. Then you have a transgendered father in a gay marriage with kids that couldn't get divorced in Alabama.
I'm pretty sure this would rip a hole in the space time continuum.

Gays will never divorce. Rainbows, unicorns and butterflies will be enough to keep their love strong. Besides, with 4 testicles involved in the relationship the union will probably be dissolved with a violent, brutal murder.

To divorce in Iowa first requires a year of residency. Put another way, if the couple wanted to get divorced in Iowa – where they married -- they’d have to move there, live a year, and then file for divorce.
Well, that's Iowa's problem. If they want to grant marriage licenses to out-of-state residents, then they should come up with a less onerous procedure for these people to get divorced.

I don't see how the state can grant a divorce on a marriage it does not recognize.

Save traditional divorce!

Update: Judge says "no"

This is interesting...
So...rather than try to get Iowa (that allows gay marriage and where they went to GET married) to change ITS residency law regarding divorce, they will instead try to use this as a vehicle to get Alabama's ban on gay marriage tossed.
Typical bullshite.

Attorney Patrick Hill, who represents Shrie Richmond, said neither of the women wants to move to get a divorce.
“They’re both from here in Alabama, and this is where their homes, family and friends are,” he said.

This.
I have a feeling this is an attempt to force the issue. Would not be surprised if the two individuals involved have no intention of actually living apart after their faux divorce.

Marriage results in divorce half the time and cheating 80%.

In the not to distant future, same sex marriages, and divorces, will be recognized in every state of this country.
This doesn't mean every church will recognize same sex marriages, which is totally fine.
Why people fight this I have no idea.
