One of the biggest things that liberals accuse conservatives of is getting all their news from Fox News or Drudge and being told what to think.

An anecdote from this morning tells me that conservatives aren't the only ones.

I have a Twitter account but rarely use it. I have, in the past, followed colleagues at other universities, people I meet at academic conventions, etc.

I received a Twitter alert this morning.

13 of your friends have followed @repjohnlewis

Went and looked, and its all academic types from universities across the nation. Just all of a sudden decided to follow a Georgia congressman.

There are a nauseating number of examples, but a recent one is the "peaceful transfer of power" line dems and their media shills howled about prior to election night.

Look at them now. Willing to bring us to the brink of war with Russia because they can't accept that people think differently than they do. They can't accept that good intentions are not an acceptible substitute for failed policy. We are witnessing the greatest temper tantrum of all time.

Both sides are extremely reliant on groupthink.

This board, although not the worst, suffers from it as well.

Anyone who says that only the other side suffers groupthink is severely disingenuous.

Groupthink is everywhere, both sides. I don't think one side is particularly worse than the other either. Every issue boils down to one the other side thinks about it. Everything is politicized. Trump nor Hillary could do no wrong from the viewpoint of their respective sides.

I agree that both sides are guilty but would like to add that it seems conservatives are less likely to shut themselves off from people with opposing views.

Studies have shown that is true, at least in regards to social media.

It seems liberals watch Fox News more than conservatives.

I don't think that this is entirely true. I'm well aware of Trump's shortcomings and failings but when weighed against the alternative the only sane course of action is clear. Any person that looks objectively at the situation will come to the same conclusion. If not they're a moron.

It depends on the degree and provability of the topic, don't you agree?

People agreeing that 2+2=4, is not a product of group think.
