so you believe that with a few more prisons we can virtually eliminate it?

Would need to pass a temp law to ban guns for the duration of the two week furlough to insure civil disobedience was kept non violent.

Hmmm? Isn't there a law forbidding breaking and entering, vandalism, and looting? So banning guns would keep them non violent?

The poors in the hood see all these so called laws as "formally documented suggestions".

Isn't that what's already going on?

The St. Louis police

1) Shoot unarmed man in the back and
2) Fail to prevent criminal acts like looting

so what good are they?

Do you think they'd be competent to stand trial?

It makes me laugh at how many people actually think their homes iare defensible? In reality home safey is an illusion against fire. It's amazing how many people don't stop to consider that guns and ammunition don't put out fires.

I would definitely install a sprinkler type extinguisher system on my house before purchasing a firearm. Our home was built in the 1910's. It doesn't have fire stops and would likely go up like a match stick if it ever caught fire. We do have a building wide alarm system (its a duplex). If this house catches on fire the best we can hope for is enough time to GTFO.

There are hundreds if not thousands of ways to die in your own home that are more likely than being killed by an intruder. I'd bet something as simple as putting grippie thingies on your shower floor so you don't slip and crack your head open is more likely to save your life than a gun.

A gun can protect you outside of your home. That sprinkler system at home isn't going to do much when you are held at gun point pumping gas at the gas station.

There are also hundreds to thousands of things outside my home that are more likely to kill me than a gun is to save me. Something as simple as wearing a seatbelt does more to protect your life than carrying a gun.

If the gun is already pointed at my face the gun in my pocket probably won't do much either. Choosing to tank up at a time and place wear being held at gun point is unlikely does a lot more to protect me.

With a young child in the house, if I keep a loaded weapon ready to use, it is scientific fact the young child is more likely to hurt himself or die or hurt others than he is to be saved by the gun. And if the gun is kept locked - you lose the time advantage on a potential intruder.

I remember when I took off to hike the Appalachian trail a lot of my friends seemed to be perplexed as to why I wasn't bringing a hand gun.

Is it also not a fact that if an intruder enters your house with a 22 caliber gun and you have no gun at all that you are subject to doing whatever that intruder wishes or become subject to the ole" never bring a knife to gunfight" theory?

Think about it like insurance. You insure things you can't afford to lose, even if the odds are unlikely. $500 for lifetime insurance against violent crime committed against you is cheap in my book.

Say you don't live in a flood prone area, but you own a $1M home. Would you not insure that home against floods? I don't know about you, but I put greater than a $1M value on my life.
