When LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 he is quoted saying: "These n@$!#/rs will be voting for us for the next 50 years!"

Donald denies it and says they were different Fred Trumps. However, Vice did a long writeup about it and found old newspaper clippings showing Fred Trump's marriage to Donald's mother. The address the real Fred Trump gave to the newspaper for his wedding announcement is the same address the newspaper gave for the "KKK" Fred Trump that was arrested. Same guy.

It happened, but I personally don't give a shite. Lots of people were in the Klan back then (millions of people were Klan members up north in the 1920's). The Klan up north was mostly about harassing Catholics and opposing Catholic immigration. Moreover, the average white person in 1920 agreed with the Klan -- it was not considered a radical organization at all back then (either up north or down here).

In all seriousness, I do not hold a child accountable for what his father did, especially before the child was even born. It's not fair in Trump's case or Obama's case.

Thankfully a clean articulate well spoken black man came along.

At least he didn't own a 7-11 and have a slight accent.

I don't know about "long term". Probably either three or six years. He joined in 1940 and in 1952 he claimed to have quit paying dues nine years earlier but wrote at least one pro-Klan letter in 1946. Some of his writing at the time was vile.

That quote is from the memoir of an Air Force One steward and is the only record of it.

Yeah, it's hard to believe the Trumps were Democrats at one time and went to Klan rallies and other Democrat Party functions. I sure am glad they left that all behind and joined the Party that freed the slaves instead of the one that founded The Klan.

Interesting I read some more. Sounds like it is considered wurstionsble. Although certainly not outside the realm of possibility with other things Johnson said.

Yeah, I certainly wouldn't be surprised if he did say it but the person who claims to have heard the quote made many statements critical of LBJ (many valid) and had made other claims that were disputed by every other witness in the room. Probably not the most credible source when attributing such a disgusting quote to someone.

Yep. Democrats don't care about minorities. They care about votes. That statement proves it.
