I know weve all gotten used to an administration that would pick and choose laws they want to follow but this is not how our government is supposed to operate.

On civil asset forfeiture: the Attorney General doesnt create laws. He enforces the laws we have. By lamenting over the fact that the nominee for AG has made positive comments about CAF in the past shows that we have accepted our conditioning to disrespect and discard the Constitution as the law of the land. We should be on the phone, calling our State and Federal Congressmen telling them that this practice is unnacceptable.

On MJ and War on Drugs: Again, we shouldnt have a non-elected official dictating which laws we should and shouldnt follow. That goes for the President as well. James Madison and Thomas Jefferson would bitch slap you for believing so.

Its time to re-empower the Constitution and give it the teeth it needs to hold statists in check! Dont like that weed is illegal? Call your damn Congressmen or write Donald Trump. He can propose legislation(although he cannot write it)!

Im tired of unelected officials having so much power. This is only so because Congress gave them this almost unlimited regulatory power. I say its damn well time for Congress to take back its power of making laws and to send regulatory power back to the damn States!

You so called Constitutional conservatives should be ashamed of yourselves for badmouthing a patriot like Sessions before he has even served one day as AG! You libertarians should be ashamed of yourselves for accepting that the Federal government is your master and can operate with no checks, at will, without the consent of the people! . You have no master(except for God Himself) and the Constitution is the master of the Federal government!

Get your heads straight PT and lets truly MAGA!

Or we could just defer jurisdiction to state and local law enforcement.

We can also refuse to pursue forfeiture without a conviction. Just because civil forfeiture is allowed doesn't mean it's required.

Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III

How long will it take the liberals to bring out the fact that he was named after Confederate leaders.

It's like everyone suddenly forgot that we just spent the last 8 years bitching about how Holder and Obama were acting like tyrants in picking the laws they like.

Where is weed or any drug mentioned in the constitution? Only in the 10th amendment as best I can tell. Wanting the Feds to draw back the overreach used by Nixon to start the war on drugs is the opposite of statist opinion.

Good, the Confederates were actually on the side of the Constitution or at least its values of small government. Sessions has had this spirit and I hope he keeps it as AG

Wait, so the AG should ignore existing laws?

You realize that Congress isn't making all these laws, correct? Most of them are executive powers flexing their muscle, which means a good AG will stop enforcing stupid laws.

I agree with the first and second posters. The fact that Sessions is a Senator means that he represents his State's interests in Washington. I believe that he represent's his State's interests in his positions. Not necessarily my personal interests, but that is neither here nor there.

Bottom line is if we want a return to the rule of law in the AG's office and the DOJ, we could not do much better than Sessions.

Damn right he should! Its in the damn Constitution that such matters should be deferred to the states! However, if the US Congress were to pass a law prohibiting the practice, it wouldnt happen in any of the 50 states!

Probably will happen before they concede these little gems of fact:

In Alabama, Jeff Sessions Desegregated Schools and Got the Death Penalty for KKK Head.

Please...this is not in the Constitution and certainly is not meant for those who have sworn oaths to uphold the law to ignore it completely!

1. Enforce the laws on the books
2. Identify laws that need to change
3. Change them legally

That is the way to effect change in a society that respects the rule of law over the rule of the mob or an executive order writing President.
