The British-born wife of French presidential candidate Francois Fillon was paid around 500,000 euros ($538,000) over a decade out of parliamentary funds, a report said Tuesday.
Polls forecast that Fillon, from the rightwing Republicans party, would win presidential elections due in April and May if the vote were held today.
But many analysts see the contest as highly unpredictable with Fillon facing competition from far-right candidate Marine Le Pen, centrist Emmanuel Macron and others.

The French are duplicitous though in their electioneering. LePen might have popular support from the polls, but if the Republicans see that they are going to lose, they will get their party loyalists to vote with the socialists(Hollande)They will also do it in Assembly elections

Pretty much this. There are always two elections and the second one pretty much comes down to the National Front and everyone else.
About the only way that changes is if the Muslims are fricking stupid enough to attack between the two elections and throw support to Le Pen to deal with the issue.
