Because a socialist who doesn't want France dominated by Muslim influence is better than a socialist who does, I suppose.

I know Trump may have confused you but in most countries the person who finishes second in votes isn't considered the winner.

Let's have a world of nothing but ultra-nationalistic, nativist nation-states.

You have to admit that this round of nationalism is a bit different than what we saw prior to WWI as it is focused on the suppression of foreign Middle Eastern immigration and not the goal of spreading certain nationalities across Europe. And when you throw in the economic liabilities of the Eurozone, it's not that crazy that people support this position.

Weak retort if you think about it.

Things can always get worse.

Macron's marriage would be a massive story if this wasn't a French election- his teacher basically seduced him in the French equivalent of HS and married him shortly after he graduated. She was like 35-40 at the time.

Socialism is still socialism.

This board has shifted from hating big government to accepting the shite out of it. First they cheer Trump as he tries to disrupt the free market by influencing trade and now they cheer an idiot who wants to nationalize the French bank and give tax hikes to private companies.

George Soros seems to be paying half of this board.

Yeah I don't give a shite about Obama. Retaining the American led world order is something everyone should be interested in.

People would take Obama back in a heartbeat, Trump wouldn't even have run if Obama was eligible for a third term.

I tend to think an immigration and radicalism hawk would be better than Macron, but I refuse to get invested in the outcome of a French election.

And I agree with you on this board's increasing tolerance of big government.

No, just the franco-german alliance in the EU. Which would have been a good thing...we don't need another chef (merkel) in the world's geopolitical kitchen.

There is only room for one, if we want peace between the modernized countries.

Even this might overstate Le Pen's support-- the shift to block a fascist in the second round even if it means a communist voting for a conservative or a conservative backing the socialist is such a real phenomenon in French elections post WW2 that there's actually a French poli sci term for it, I can't remember it exactly (my French is really rusty).
