Law School Advice

I don't post here, but I saw a discussion the other day about law school that intrigued me. I'm a graduating senior in marketing from lsu, already taken the LSAT, applied, and have been accepted to Tulane, Loyola, Southern Methodist, U of H, and LSU. LSU, Houston, and Loyola have offered me full scholarships, Tulane offered me 25k a year and SMU offered 30k per year.
Could someone with knowledge and experience in this area give me some insight about choosing a school? Is it worth the cost to attend Tulane over Loyola? Does an SMU degree provide me with better options as a common law school instead of civil? I'm really just stressing out and wanted to hear opinions based on facts not just for opinions sake.
Thanks in advance!

just factor in the higher cost of living when determining one school over another

no offense to my Loyola friends, but if you plan to be on the national market, Tulane is the no-brainer of that crew. If staying in Louisiana, then LSU (unless def practicing in NO, then maybe Loyola).
See no advantage to the texas options.

Do you have an area of interest for the practice?
Both Area of Law and Geographically.
I don't have an answer. But, this info might be of interest for those that may.
Good luck (even though I have a generally negative view of you attorney types )

I think it depends on a lot of unknown factors, where do you want to practice after graduation, what do you want to do with your degree, are you a minority, are you a female, if so are you hot, if so are you likely to get pregnant, do you have any legal connections for post graduation employment, etc

I'm from New Orleans; I love the city, and I love the culture. My dad's a river boat pilot, but that never peaked my interest. However, I am considering admiralty law. If I stay in Louisiana, I am leaning towards Tulane. If I head to SMU, I want to do contracts and stay more in the corporate sector. Dallas has just always really attracted me for whatever reason

are you planning on staying in Louisiana or practicing law out of state? Louisiana has a different law system than the rest of the country

I know all the ins and outs about civil code vs. common law. I was mostly looking to see if anybody had any experience with Loyola v. Tulane or leaving home v. Staying

admiralty law
it's an interesting field, depending on which sub-field (COGSA, seaman injury, customs issues, piracy--the aaarrrr type, not bit-torrents, port issues (tugs...), etc etc).
however, unless you want to work at a big shop like Jones Walker, Stone Pigman, etc. doing P&I (defense) type work, then you're either going to be making a relatively small salary at a smaller defense-oriented shop or doing ambulance chasing on boats for a shot at the big bucks (although that's harder to do these days with tort reform).
I'd go back to it in some capacity if it made sense for me, but it doesn't at this point.

Sounds like tulane is the place for you. Also, if you could hook a guy up with a river pilot job, i'd kill for that career opportunity.

So what, none of us do, but we constantly offer advice to Les Miles, Sean Payton; so why not to an aspiring attorney.
Come on man, get a grip on yourself, it's a message board.
