A friend was the store mgr at a Victoria Secrets store in N.O & the store's policy was the same: it is a fireable offense for any store employee to try & stop a shoplifter. So she stood by while this one POS came in every other day, getting more & more bolder as he became aware that he was free to steal as he wanted. Finally, after the 4th time, he walked up to a store clerk & started to physically assualt her. Then & only then did she call in mall security. Once a POS sees he can get away with something, it only gets worse & worse till a line is crossed into something really dangerous for store employees.

I'm willing to bet this guy will get picked up by a small business owner with potential. When stories breaks like this there's some businesses that would rather have someone with guts and integrity instead of some liberal pansy-arse.

Or most will be uninterested in hiring an idiot who cannot follow their(Employer) explicit instructions.

Small businesses have rules that employees do not like either.

So the policy went beyond not wanting your employees to personally intervene to not even calling the cops or mall security? BS.

I can understand their policy w/r/t not chasing a suspect but why did she wait until the fourth time to call security?

You'd hire a guy that ignores company policy. GLTY.
