Judge to inmates: Get sterilized and I’ll shave off jail time

Sterilization for early release
My initial thoughts: This will be very controversial, but given recidivism rates, bad job prospects for the ex-con and the well established socio-economic patterns of children following in their parents footsteps (back to jail) ,...this might be a great idea.
But when I see the time he's willing to reduce, I'm thinking WTF!
30 whole days?

Seems a bit social engineering, but not a bad idea. The reduction in sentence should be a percentage. Maybe 10% time off?
A super liberal buddy of mine came up with the idea that after a woman has her 3rd abortion, she should be sterilized. I like that idea too.

Yeah, I agree. I might even go higher considering the massive cost savings down-the-road. I bet well over half of current inmates had a parent who spent time in jail. And it's all voluntary.....so...I could get on board.

Agree - this is a non-offer.
However, I'd like to see sterilization as a demand for continued support from the FedGov.
For instance, if you are able bodied but refuse to work or to pay child support for children you have already sired or given birth to, sterilization should be DEMANDED for any further continuation of aid.
We could couch it as fighting climate change - cause we know overpopulation is the root cause of it - whatever you call it.
