I don't like to buy into conspiracies but I don't like our govt being militarized other than our defense department. I know we have spent a shitload of money on these wars but I don't want the equipment that money was spent on being used against pot dealers, or any American for that matter.

Active or NG? One of the medics in 20th GRP is one of my best friends from childhood.

I'm active but looking closely into NG. Wars are winding down and I'd like to take some time to finish college.

Those guys stay gone a lot, too. He's been to AFG twice, and spent four or five months last year going around to US bases training up units that were about to deploy.

That op tempo would be easier than what I've been doing (not that I'm complaining). Plus I would really enjoy teaching young soldiers getting ready to deploy overseas. Would still give me time to get a college degree and make myself competitive away from the military.

The problem with the guard/reserve is balancing civilian life and military. Especially in a high op - tempo unit like the group. 4-5 months a year is a lot of time when trying to go to school or work a regular job.

I can see that. I just like having options. I'd like to move back to Louisiana some day soon but it would be hard for me to separate myself 100% from the military because I've done it for 9 years. We will see.

I hear you man. I just transferred to the Air Guard from the Marines for TACP. I'm pretty sure there is an SF unit in Mississippi.

There's a little flexibility. Some guys take more assignments than others. But it's not the typical one weekend a month, as I'm sure you know. Even being gone a lot, you can probably fit in a semester or more in an average year. And as long as you're not actually out on a FTX or something, you can still complete online coursework in your free time, which can be problematic if you're in some overseas shithole.

maybe agreeing on one point, that's hardly a big agreement, Maher loves govt when they are telling you how to "live green", taking away your 2nd amendment rights and interfering in the free market.

There is very little that Stossel and Maher agree on.

Poor troll on the subject. down

It's a problem with progressives. There may be agreements on size of the govt especially if it is impeding on god given liberties. However most libs still want the govt to regulate firearms, wealth, healthcare, and education. Kind if hard to have it both ways.
