Congress? After he's been Governor? I'm not sure the ego of his advisors would allow such a thing.

If there's a republican POTUS in 2016, Jindal will likely be a cabinet member, most likely health and human services secretary.

And Hillary Clinton will be the auburn and Oklahoma to his Saban in 2016.

He's not going to win. He's a loser neocon many true conservatives and libertarians will not vote for. More of the same does not work.

christie is the best bet for republicans. they are at a structural disadvantage, their constituency is dying. a moderate establishment republican, especially from a left leaning state, has the best chance to win nationwide election.

The thing is there is no way christie gets through the primary process. He will get eaten alive by the right. All of those photo ops of him with obama will do him in.

. Yeaahhh! Just as soon see Laurel and Hardy at the helm. The World will be on fire in three years. Neither of those guys have the PERSONAL POWER to unite, inspire and motivate. A pseudo-Conservative blowhard and a numbers guy.

I think that's a silly assertion. Jindal has done some unpopular things in his second term, but he is still a good politician in state without any real competition. If he ran again, he'd win without a runoff.

The last two elections the GOP has put up moderate "electable" candidates for president and they have both gone down in flames faster than McCain's fighter jet in a bombing run over Hanoi. Quit telling us that the GOP establishment's candidate is the best candidate and actually put up someone that motivates the base to get out and vote.

I don't think there's a Democrat who could beat Jindal in a state-wide race like Governor, but I do think if someone like Vitter or Dardenne were to throw themselves in the same hypothetical race, Team Jindal would have to spend just about every dime of that $10 Million campaign account to hold one of those guys off.

Nope. He will rebuff Evangelicals and other social conservatives. they will stay home again and the Democrats get another win.

The only Republican I see trying to make inroads with Evangelicals and social conservatives is Rand Paul.

You mean "will be". Cruz and Paul cancel each other.

I don't get this. No I didn't like McCain, I really wasn't sold on Romney. But to wittingly stay home and not vote R because your guy or gal didn't make the cut. You help ensure the progressives will continue their assault on our country?

Good reason not to endorse this ticket.

Hmmm, I don't think Evangelicals stayed home, but the term is poorly defined. A right wing news site disagrees with your assertion.

Hot air also disagrees, and uses exit polls to back up their assertion

I think the evangelical vote is a shoe in for whoever the R candidate is, assuming their isnt a high profile 3rd party social conservative on the ballot.

I think the problem is the population is turning brown and the Rs don't have an answer for it.

I don't know how much real budget cutting has been done. It's more like less Federal dollars coming into the state than before. Only 2 options existed, raise taxes or do with less funds. Jindal and those legislators who fought against tax increases like in 2009 should be commended, but the budget cutting was mostly a result from receiving less money from D.C.

Uhm sort of, half way.

The overall budget is down and some of that is federal disaster money going away.

But general fund dollars went down from about $10 billion to $8 billion. So that's a 20% cut in general fund dollars; ouch!

Also, the feds decreased the reinbursment rate for medicaid. That means the state had to kick in more general fund dollars just to pay for the same services. So yes, a federal decrease, but unlike disaster funding, it's one that has to get backfilled with state dollars.

I still don't understand why our Congress members haven't worked on getting that Medicaid mess fixed. The Feds used the hurricane construction boom as the income figures to base the Medicaid dollars. Now those recovery and construction monies have disappeared with the state footing the bill.

They did stay home in 2008. Romney did see an increase in Evangelical turn out, but If Christie rebuffs them they will stay home.

you need more than just the hardcore base to win, that's the easy part. throw a hard right winger up and see how fast the moderates run the other way, especially with Hillary running whom will be a huge attraction to moderates and of course to women also.
