This is happening.
I beg to differ. There are quite a few connections.
1) Neither of you give a flying monkey shite about history, nor the history of New Orleans, and frankly, neither of you give a shite either. You deserve to live in a truck stop. That's truly what you both deserve.
2) Both think doing away with statues is going to make New Orleans a better place to live instead of doing something about the crime that is out of control in the city, the low paying jobs that is the standard in the area, the lack of opportunities, trash on the streets, or the dilapidated housing and run down depressed areas people live in.
3) Graffitti are your own personal skid marks, and it's not just on your statues you want to take down, but is an example of the eye sores that are all over the city by people just like both of you who simply do not give a shite about the conditions of your own city you live in, which is why you cannot understand why taking statues down makes you more irrelevant, and not more relevant.
BOTH are immature and childish in the manner in which they view history and the world around them, and your values are in the gutter. You don't deserve New Orleans. You deserve a truck stop.
This is happening.

The phrase "Tear it Down" was hastily sprayed in black paint across the base of the golden Joan of Arc statue on Decatur Street in the French Quarter sometime earlier this week. It has since been removed, with only the vaguest traces of the paint remaining. The "Tear it Down" tag would seem to relate to the debate surrounding the city's ongoing removal of four Confederate monuments . But the statue of Joan of Arc, a 15th-century military leader, martyr and Catholic saint, hasn't been mentioned in the controversy to this point. Amy Kirk Duvoisin, the founder of the annual Joan of Arc parade that ceremonially pauses at the statue on the first day of Carnival season, says she's confused by the vandalism. "Surely, people realize she's not related to American history," she said referring to the French icon.
quote:
There is no connection between the "Tear It Down" tag and the the Take Em Down NOLA organization, one of its leaders said. TED NOLA been most vocal among the opponents of the Confederate monuments as well as local school names, venues, streets and other statues honoring figures with ties to slavery. Malcolm Suber said TED members had nothing to do with the graffiti.

Domestic Terrorism. Put the person who did this to death.

That is an optimism about our educational system I do not share.

TED is dumb enough to think Andrew Jackson was a Confederate general. I wouldn't put it past them to try to take down Joan of Arc.

Your indignation is righteous, History Bro.

Even dogs know better than to shite where they sleep, but apparently shitting where they sleep is not a problem to these people. It's the somewhat relevant and interesting picture on the wall that's offensive, not the fact that they sleep where they shite that people find abhorrent when they visit.
What I find most depressing about these people is their unwillingness to pick up the shite in their bed and wash their sheets, rather they worry themselves and rally behind getting rid of the painting that actually makes the place interesting. Imagine if they put the same amount of effort into demanding that Mitch and company actually did something to get rid of the criminal element, or to clean up nasty areas of the city, and/or do something which fosters a positive area for business and industry to relocate or grow in so as to create more job opportunities. Just imagine if these people had a lick of fricking good sense in their heads to begin with.

Guarantee these morons think Joan of Arc had something to do with the American Civil War.

As long as the Joan of Arcadia statue is fine.

Bingo.
Progressives have dumbed down our educational system for a reason.
After I read the poll that the majority of HS grads today believe Bush killed more people than Hitler, that pretty much sealed it for me. Progressives are winning.

It just blows my mind these people don't understand Landrieu is using them. I mean it's painfully obvious at this point he just unleased tethered dogs.

Meanwhile, the John C Calhoun monument in Charleston is standing just fine.

Take Em Down is nothing more than modern day Bread and Circuses. Landrieau and the other Dems couldn't give a rats arse about blacks or the people of New Orleans. They're just trying to divert attention away from the fact they are doing nothing to solve the actual problems in the city and build up political capital to try and move up the ladder. Landrieu has effectively burned every bridge worth crossing in Louisiana for the rest of his life

I'm in favor of tearing down the Confederate statues, but I'm very Catholic. Joan of Arc needs to stay up where she is!

Well, I've got bad news for ya. Joan did not go stoically to the bonfire. She went kicking, screaming and begging for mercy and promised to recant anything and everything. But it was too late. They didn't have time for an appeals court.

I mean she is Christian. How does this statue honoring her make non Christians feel? I feel for their feelings of having to look at this statue and be reminded they are not Christians.
Feelings.
Feelings.
