Officer Jeffrey Vappie has again been reassigned from Mayor LaToya Cantrell's security detail as the New Orleans Police Department investigates another complaint lodged against him, the NOPD confirmed Wednesday.

The Metropolitan Crime Commission filed the complaint against Vappie this month after he was photographed dining with Cantrell on the balcony of a French Quarter restaurant.

The commission's complaint comes after U.S. District Judge Susie Morgan last year found numerous violations of the federal consent decree that governs reforms to the NOPD in the department's investigation of earlier complaints regarding Vappie's hours with Cantrell.

Cantrell was identified by Vappie's then-wife in a divorce filing more than a year ago, in which she alleged an affair between them dating to around May 2021.

Vappie’s divorce was finalized April 16, court records show. Vappie and his wife agreed to its terms in a consent judgment signed on April 8, the day after the mayor's dinner with Vappie. Cantrell and Vappie both have denied the allegations of an affair.
