Can someone update me on this?

Last I heard it was to be purchased for like 2+ billion but it got tabled due to regulatory pressures.

Did they restructure and reapply for acquisition?

If so is it a 100% foregone conclusion they would leave BTR if sold?

I don't know the details on this, but I also don't think politicians should stand in the way of business transactions.

increased premiums

This is due to government meddling in business, not government staying out of business.

Blue Cross has refiled the acquisition application and planning to close the sale by March. Changes are there will be a Jeff Landry appointed addition to the board that will oversee proceeds from the sale. 91% of the sale proceeds will be handled by this foundation whose objective is to better the health and lives of Louisianians.

He'll be on the right for based national issues and some state issues, but don't hold your breath waiting for LA business integrity.

The controversial sale of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana to Elevance Health of Indianapolis is again moving forward

Some doctors and hospitals who questioned the $2.5 billion deal earlier this year said it could limit patient access to providers and policyholders.

Republican Attorney General and Gov.-elect Jeff Landry and state legislators also questioned the sale.

State Sen. Jeremy Stine, R-Lake Charles, and a member of the Senate Insurance Committee, said in August he was concerned that the promise of $3,000 to Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s 92,000 official policyholders for a yes vote might keep them from looking at the big picture.

Anything that stops Ochsner monopoly in the health industry in La. I'm for.

Don't know the facts but hopefully Landry will act for the conservatives that voted for him.

It will be a $3 billion foundation. Landry will get one of 5 board seats. That is slimy as frick.

He held up the sales so he could get his cut.

Proof of what? He is getting an appointment on that board:

But the company has made at least one significant change when it comes to the oversight of the nonprofit foundation that would result from the $2.5 billion acquisition. And the move could help persuade one of the most powerful opponents of the deal, Gov.-elect Jeff Landry, to offer his support.

Blue Cross is proposing to give the governor of Louisiana the right to appoint one of five voting seats on the board of directors of the $3 billion nonprofit foundation set to be called Accelerate Louisiana.

Blue Cross officials said this week they have met with Landry in recent weeks and made him aware of the proposed board seat. They did not offer the governor a seat on the board to win his approval, they said, but to address concerns that the board — which in the initial proposal was made up of four former Blue Cross board members — would have some oversight by state government.

Now, maybe, if you are naïve to the point of being functionally retarded you can believe Blue Cross's story.

But he held up the sale, got one of 5 seats, and now is OK with the deal.

Go into denial all you want, it's shady.
