This whole debacle is nothing more than a revenge tour for Mitch against conservative white folk who ended the Landrieu dynasty by kicking her sister out of the senate and torpedoing any chance at Governor for him and a cabinet spot in DC with Trump winning the White House.

all Mitch had to do was keep his damn mouth shut and concern himself about shite that actually effects daily life in the city... like crime and economy

They're beautiful parts of the history of the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana.
Other southern states have already acted to preserve statues like this with their own preservation bills in the statehouse.
We can't do that now because we have a democrat as Governor who won't sign such a bill as he can't risk pissing off the black folk in Nola when he needs their votes in a couple years despite the fact that republicans elected him in 2015 over Vitter and conservatives are the ones who are pissed here.

That's an AK. It has an AR style stock on it but you can see the curvature of the mag in the middle of his chest rig and the gas tube

Of all of the statues, this is the one I actually care the least about. I would be completely fine with it being replaced by a statue of Thomas Jefferson, and the road renamed Thomas Jefferson Parkway. Jefferson Davis doesn't seem to have strong ties to the city like the other statues.
