It's all a smokscreen. Comey wasn't fired for Hillary, but for leaks and public statements

Hillary was the excuse Trump used because he fully intended on stuffing liberal outrage down their own throat, using their own words.
But inside conversations reveal that the 2 straws that broke the camel's back were:
1) Leaks - Comey thwarted any efforts by the DOJ and Trump administration of requesting priority status of investigations into leaks coming from within the IC
2) Public statements - On 3 occasions Comey told Trump (as well as the Senate intel comm) that there was no evidence of collusion. Flynn was being investigated for his consulting work, but nothing to do with the campaign. So Trump asked him to make a statement to that regard, as he had done for Hillary and Huma. He respectfully declined to do so.
Comey was as bad as J Edgar. They both played politics with intel. He needed to go

Comey was also oddly self-absorbed. He needed to go

Do you think a new independent investigation of the White House should be opened now? Or is it okay to fire someone who is investigating you? Serious question.

Just read Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein's letter to Jeff Sessions and Trump. He lays out all the reasons why Comey had to go.

Has any investigation ended because of this?

Probably not, but when Trump appoints the next Director, we can assume he will appoint someone who isn't going to come after him.

I too noticed a decline in Comey's work since Monday. Yates and subpoenas definitely had a tremendous and sudden impact in performance.

No one currently in the WH is under investigation in relation to Russia/elections. The Va district is focused on Flynn and his consulting work
And since Comey wouldn't clarify this, on the day those subpoenas went out: Axed!

Was Comey after him? Doesn't seem like he was

So how do you explain the timing of all this?
Posted on 5/10/17 at 10:11 am to AggieDub14
Perhaps it was due to that abortion of a hearing Comey had recently? I'm not so sure I trust the intention behind this 100% but I'm not ready to call this "Tuesday Night Massacre" either

Yeah, that's the point. Trump is 2 steps ahead of the outrage he knows is coming. So how do I fire Comey for his politicizing his role? Use the Dims own words when doing it
If you've read Trumps tweets about Schumer's hypocrisy, then you know that was the intent in using Hillary's emails to fire him. Call out the hypocrisy

I think he was fired for drawing out this whole thing and not firmly stating that he doesn't have any evidence of collusion.
That said, if they want to go with a special prosecutor, more power to them.

Link? Because all I've heard Comey say is that the Trump campaign is being investigated. Comey's quote:
quote:
"I’ve been authorized by the Department of Justice to confirm that the FBI, as part of our counterintelligence mission, is investigating the Russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election,” Comey said in testimony before the House Intelligence Committee. “That includes investigating the nature of any links between individuals associated with the Trump campaign and the Russian government, and whether there was any coordination between the campaign and Russia’s efforts."

I think that's about where I am. Just really skeptical of motives of the President. I think congress should launch an independent investigation. If they do, I will be satisfied. No one should have any issue with covering tracks just to be safe.

I agree. Get someone in to put this to bed for once and all. Liberals do not do their cause justice by flying off the handle with stupid shite like "Tuesday Night Massacre" or the type of melting Olbermann is doing.

Cater Page. That matter has now been dropped
Michael Flynn. That matter has now been shifted to his consulting work
Neither of which are working for Trump, FYI

For what?

You still haven't provided a link to support your claim that no one working with Trump is under investigation.
ETA: hell, even if no one currently working for Trump is under investigation right now who knows what's going to happen with Flynn and Page. Next month new evidence could surface implicating anyone - that's why you have investigations

Dude, Congress has been all up in this. Remember Nunes? Schiff? Feinstein?
Comey briefed the Senate intel Comm in a closed session, and laid out all his cards. When the meeting was over Diane Feinstein (DIM from Cali) told CNN that Comey presented 'no evidence at this time' of collusion
