He'd better hope the GOP holds the House in 2018.

Define whole. He can be impeached by the House, but impeachment is just like an indictment. The Senate would have to throw him out, but there's no crime to throw him out FOR. You can't obstruct justice if there was no crime in the first place. First they will have to find an ACTUAL crime, then prove that he obstructed an investigation into it. So far, NOBODY has identified a crime. So Mueller doesn't have shite and is going about it arse backwards.

Yes.

Factual findings that this is all a DNC/MSM Political Complex made up scenario to derail there opposition and drum up intensity in their mindless followers.

I see the left has already resumed its regular talking points and is instructing the useful idiots to carry on.

As long as we hold both House and Senate, Trump has nothing to worry about.

First of all: He will quit and blame the media before he goes down in flames.

But he can definitely get out of it. I'm no lawyer, but from what I understand, Obstruction of Justice can be difficult to prove. Also, GOP holds the House and Senate...so I would think impeachment would be very difficult.

The real problem is the long term damage he does to the GOP. If he runs again in 2020, he'll say he tried to do "xyz" and blame congress for his inability to follow through on campaign promises...of course congress has to deal with pesky issues like funding and implementation.

Plus. Prior to today even some msm admitted Criminal obstruction was not possible. First he is the president and can direct the FBI director to end an investigation. Second, FBI investigations are not covered under the obstruction law they claim he violated. It is the reason the left started trumpeting "emotional obstruction". He can be impeached for that even without violating criminal obstruction. They need 2/3 senate to convict. Not going to happen. He will serve his term. Likely get another 4 years.

A couple of points:

1. The average special prosecution lasts 2+ years.

2. The president is probably not indictable in Federal court. If charges are warranted, they'll be forwarded to Congress.

3. In the Senate the "jury of his peers" that would be required to remove him would be 67 Senators. As is, that would require 19 Republican votes + all the Dems and Independents. That's a really high bar.

4. A large wave election could put a lot more Democrats in Congress, but there aren't that many Republicans up for re-election in the Senate, so it would still take a number of Republicans to turn on Trump.

5. The real wild card is the underlying crimes. Keep in mind that there are typically leaks in SC investigations and that there will be two parallel congressional investigations going on, much of which will be public. If they start confirming more elements of the Steele Dossier (the pee parties with hookers are the least damning part) or other explosive collusion allegations, it's possible for Republicans to abandon the president in droves. The Post story tonight is worse for the President than the headline. They're also looking into financial crimes in addition to obstruction.

That is a very good post doc and I agree. Though 11 months of "investigations" into collusion has not, at least tonoir knowledge, produced one shred of evidence of collusion.

IMHO, Mueller will find probable cause for Obstruction, but the legal basis for it will be weak BUT mass media will provide an army of "legal experts" telling you that the basis is legitimate.

The GOP will be called on to take action based on Mueller's findings. Mass media will set up the narrative this: It's the Rule of Law versus Trump! If the GOP sides with Trump the story will be: GOP sides against the Rule of Law and sides with the Criminal in Chief Trump.

Given the fact that the most powerful elements of the GOP hate Trump and his Reform agenda, do you REALLY think it will be easy for the GOP to head into the elections of 2018 siding with a Criminal in Chief?

The GOP will abandon Trump because they are IN on the effort to oust him.

The GOP wants NO part of Draining the Swamp and MAGA. Why would they want to make huge portions of their Donor class constituencies poorer and less powerful? You think Big Donors give money to the GOP so that the GOP can make the Big Donors become more poor and less powerful?

Steele Dossier

Ok, maybe I should've said the least impeachable part.

Christopher Steele is a British spy who's worked with the US IC and was apparently paid to gather oppo for Hillary Clinton during the campaign. It briefly made a controversial splash but was never fully independently confirmed, though apparently some parts of it have been confirmed by our intelligence services (other parts have been disconfirmed, but nobody knows which is which).

It alleges lots and lots and lots of collusion between the Trump campaign & Russia of the type that Bonds above rightly points out hasn't been publicly confirmed. The most explosive would be Carter Page & Manafort reportedly being offered $ in exchange for implementing pro-Russian policies including getting rid of sanctions.

Please get your hopes up some more. It's very entertaining seeing Democrats get their hopes crushed over and over again.
