LEGENDARY, Part 1 – It’s Jeff Landry’s Louisiana Now

I know it's the Hayride, but I couldn't find anything to disagree with in the article. Love him or hate him, Landry definitely learned from all the mistakes that Vitter and Rispone made and completely avoided them.

quote:

Think about it – Jeff Landry has been a major political figure on the scene in Louisiana since he ran and won a Congressional seat back in 2010. In that time, has he had a real political scandal? The opponents and detractors won’t shut up about how “shady” Landry is. OK, fair enough. Let’s see some specifics. But when we get some, what we find out is that he and his brother have a staffing company which Landry has used to service his political campaigns, which is hardly scandalous and just seems like a smart thing to do – it’s akin to a guy who has a company that makes yard signs using his company to make them for his campaign when he runs for the state senate – and also one time that company did work as a subcontractor on the construction of an LNG plant, and the main contractor hired illegal Mexicans and went to jail for it. So 13 years running for Congress and statewide office and this is the worst of the dirt on Jeff Landry? He must be the cleanest politician Louisiana has ever seen. Either that or he has his corruption buttoned up a whole lot tighter than anybody could ever expect. Given what we’re used to around here he’s pretty impressive on that front.

quote:

Landry ran the most mistake-free campaign we’ve ever seen in Louisiana. At no point could anyone credibly say that he was in danger of losing votes. And as a result his support built and built until it was enough to win a monster victory in the primary. This is the stuff that a dominant political figure is made of. And Jeff Landry has put himself in that position. What’s left to learn is just how significant that is in making him a historical figure in this state.

That article could very well be accurate.

Like him or not. Believe he’s just a typical power hungry Louisiana politician or not. But Landry has been laying this groundwork for a long time now, and executed to damn near perfection.

I was the villain for saying he wasn't the savior people were claiming early on, but Jindal > Landry.

Landry has become extremely popular as idiocracy has become extremely popular with a large segment of Louisiana Republicans. It says more about our voters/population than it does Landry.

And the only scandal I can think of that matters with Landry is the Shane Guidry scandal, which is really bad stuff. Even the MCC, which is very right-leaning, agreed Landry and his deputies were not on the up and up.

The primary issues with Landry are his intelligence and organizational/management style, not scandals.

It's hard to make mistakes when you don't say anything.

I know this a terrible but I’m just glad we won’t have a Dem in office finally.
I’m willing to give him a shot. Some of the things he did as AG sat well with me during Covid.

No, he won an election with a very very low turnout.

Im told that you’re just ignorant.

Had the Louisiana Democratic Party done their job, you would have understood that Wilson was far and away the best choice Louisianians could have made.

Instead, your ignorance will lead to dozens of disenfranchised Democrats moving out of the state!

Literally nazis

He’s not popular. And also, please tell me what leads you to the “idiocracy” charge. What is idiotic about electing Landry, given the choices?

JBE won two terms as a Dem in a red state. Landry has a ways to go to top that.

Landry is popular by gathering the low hanging fruit with simplicity and religion. I’m hoping he governs with money and jobs not morals and religion.

He ran a stealth campaign with no policy positions (unless you count slogans like "get tough on crime") and still got elected.

He might as well have said he has "electrolytes."

I thought it was absurd that Landry was saying he had the experience to fight crime and st the same time the candidates for his old job as AG would get in his office and combat crime.

Are you saying the Republican Party does focus groups on what simple sayings and catch phrases resonate with our voters?

I don't think they do, but that's not the point.

The point is that Landry had a platform of catchphrases, and the voters didn't demand more.

No. He is not by wide margin. He won an election with low turnout.

I would say the best politician since EWE is Kennedy who put on a masterclass in how to build a reputation without doing anything.
