While I despise these groups as a whole, that dude that killed that old man is bat shite crazy. If he had been white, they would probably riot. These groups are full of shitbags imo. Even if he were white though, it wouldn't change my opinion. That a-hole is crazy, no matter what his skin tone. Recognizing that is just one example of what separates people with sense from hate groups with political agendas.

Really? What about when the white kid shot up the church. Or George Zimmerman shot Trayvon. Organized protest/riots occurred when those private citizens did something tragic no?

They were(are) living a fallacy that attempts to link a sicko individual to a wider systemic institution.
This was imagination on their part, but it still got them marching, burning and causing general mayhem.

well BLM didn't start until Ferguson
Trayvon really ramped up AFTER the trial. i don't even recall riots after the verdict, though. yeah the Trayvon situation is similar in terms of scenario, but the effects were nothing like what happened in Ferguson. sure there was national commentary (including Obama stupid "if i had a son" comment), but nothing organized close to the level of BLM
