Seems like it to me. Someone can be favored over another solely based on their race or gender. One would think we should be treating everyone equally in today's times.

Thoughts?

Of course it is. To discriminate is to differentiate, Now you can discriminate for both good and bad reasons, Discrimination is not just a bad thing. It can be a positive thing if you are the group who benefits. Whites discriminated to their benefit and affirmative action can be viewed as positive for minorities,

Yes.

It's the definition of race discrimination.

There's good discrimination and there's bad discrimination.

There's good segregation and there's bad segregation.

Simple as black and white

Yes and it's incredibly racist and offensive to African Americans. Through affirmative action we are telling them you aren't as smart/capable as your peers so here's a head start. I'd consider that a slap in the face if it was me.

depends, their different forms of affirmative action

For example if a company decides it wants to increase the % of black accountants, because they are underrepresented.

-if they sent recruiters to historically black universities attempting to get them to apply for jobs with their company, I would say no.

-if they institute a policy that 10 of the next 12 hires in the company have to be black, I would say yes.

That's true. But conservatives would still frame that as reverse discrimination.

The answer to the OP is yes.

I mean, anyone denying that isn't worth chatting with.

The question is......"do you consider it OK?......and if so, why?"

They are both discriminatory, but one is giving the opportunity and informing people there are jobs for the attendees of the university. The other is not hiring someone on the basis of the skin tone.

If that's all they did for AA, then AA wouldn't work.

Very much so.

It's real injustice used to correct a societal injustice. It's wrong regardless of how it is justified.
