Des Moines Register is covering all bases

quote:

While former President Donald Trump has built a commanding lead with likely Republican caucusgoers in Iowa, less than half identify with his MAGA brand, according to a new Des Moines Register/NBC News/Mediacom Iowa Poll.

Forty percent of Iowans who plan to caucus for Republicans Monday say they align with the MAGA identity, a reference to Trump’s “Make America Great Again” slogan, which has sometimes become synonymous with conservative politics.

Eighteen percent of likely Republican caucusgoers say they consider themselves “ultra MAGA,” and 22% say they identify as “just regular MAGA” supporters.

But another 38% say they have neutral feelings about the MAGA movement, and 17% say they are “anti-MAGA.”

Of the anti-Maga contingent, 60% plan to vote for U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, who has coalesced the never-Trump contingent into her camp of supporters.

The poll of 705 likely Republican caucusgoers was conducted Jan. 7-12 by Seltzer & Co. It has a margin of error plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.

Your nuclear melt when Trump secures the nomination will be hilarious.

I really hope you're being paid by the DeSantis campaign, otherwise this is just pathetic

I love the Make America Great Again theme, just like Ronald Reagan's New Day in America theme, coming out of the disasterous Carter Administration and a previous administration where Nixon resigned.

MAGA doesn't have to be specific to one man, at least that's not how I view it. Donald Trump started it, but there are other people who can continue the movement. You don't have to be some hardcore Trump fan to appreciate the message. Lord knows I'm not.

The left has went so out of their way to demonize a harmless term to where simpletons are scared to be associated. Gaslighting.

We’ll know pretty quick. The real contest begins in South Carolina. This is no sprint it’s a marathon.

That pie chart looks like a majority certainly do support the MAGA. The article may say otherwise, but the chart doesn't look MAGA-hostile at all.

It’s relevant to the caucus tonight and DMR just released it this morning.

This is the same poll that showed Trump up by 40%

Say it enough times and it STILL won’t be true.

I’ve divorced myself from mainstream media as they have divorced themselves from TRUMP……and he’s still winning.

Get it?

It looks like it has a soft underbelly. Precinct captains may be able to capitalize on that tonight

So 83% are either MAGA or indifferent. Based on polls most of the neutral ones will probably vote Trump

The MAGA vote will be split between Vivek, Don, and Ron.

How those slices go, who knows? But this poll is showing there’s an avenue for precinct captains of both Vivek and DeSantis to vampire away support from Trump.

Find Jesus. You will feel so much better when you find forgiveness for the hate in your heart and find your real purpose in life.

So 1 in 5 republicans voters aren’t crazy about Trump. There was likely more division in previous Republican primaries.

The CURRENT one, I'd say he either started it, or he brought it into mainstream.

Didn't you learn that most MAGA supporters don't answer questions honestly from your side?
