I was thinking about this the last few weeks. Congressional approval is in the teens, but for the most part incumbents will retain their seats.

Americans have gotta be the dumbest lot on the planet because we keep doing the same thing election after election.

Machine politics.

Chicago has a history of going after voters who don't vote a straight Dem party ticket. The precinct captains could tell whether you voted straight ticket Dem or not by the sound the machine made when you voted.

Not sure if that still happens now but I wouldn't put it past the .

All votes are equal, however some votes count more than other votes:

Congressional approval ratings are crap. Everyone hates the guy representing someone else but loves their own guy unless he is a total shitbird.

He only carried two counties in the state in 2010. Chicago and East St Louis areas.

14% like the other guy even less. Or the approval ratings polls are inaccurate.

I'd also note that min wage increase to $10 is on the ballot(non binding)

GOP and Indies favor this in most states but Dems do overwhelmingly. That wont hurt Quinn's turnout either.

Also worth mentioning that an overwhelming majority of the winners tonight will have horrible approval ratings.

Yeah, the Quinn supporters have been hammering home this issue...and of course saying Bruce Rauner is basically a bad person because he's rich.

My favorite campaign ad shows Quinn playing basketball. The local news said the theme is supposed to be that "he's made more shots than he's missed".
