So by your logic, you can no longer state that Admiral Yamamoto or General Rommel were “smart” adversaries because they fought for evil regimes? Even though both of these figures were by all objective accounts smart tacticians and worthy opponents.

One would have to well out of their way (whether it be intentionally or for lack of ability) to ignore the certainty that what Trump is referring to here is Hezbollah’s capabilities as an enemy fighting force, that they should not be taken lightly.
