I know some here think that Gingrich is the ultimate Establishment hack. But he was SOTH, and he knows the inner-workings of Capitol Hill.

I like Reince, but I do wonder if Newt could've been more valuable in that role. Then again, I also wonder if Newt shouldn't have been the pick to return as Speaker instead of Paul Ryan.

Thoughts?

Yes. If he wants to make a meaningful, long lasting impact he is going to have to learn how to work with Congress.

Well since Trump chooses the best people, I'm not sure how Newt could have been better than what is chosen, since what was chosen must have been the best.

Newt's been gone for a long time. Congress is different now. Much more fractured GOP and no bipartisanship.

I dump better content down the toilet than what you post here every day.

Well then you should be saving it, not flushing it; that's valuable stuff.

Yes...and it's not too late. Ditch or assign Reince some meaningless position (don't trust his arse anyway) and send his lovely liberal daughter an son in law back home. Newt has experience in dealing with these cuckfricks.

Chief of Staff? Hell I was hoping Newt would have been his running mate.

Absolutely, but Newt is also part of "the swamp" in many ways. It's why Newt wasn't included in this administration. He had too much baggage.

what do you mean "return as speaker"? Is an appointed position? Does it require Senate confirmation?

Newt probably wasn't included because he's too alpha to work with Trump or Trump work with him.

Yeah, he would have to overcome that little thing known as being elected to a congressional seat and then be elected by the republican caucus

Not true. The Speaker doesn't have to be elected into the House, only have to be elected as SOTH by the House.

My understanding is that the HOR can potentially elect any American citizen to be Speaker. I guess you have to meet the minimum age requirement of 25 in order to be eligible, but I think that and American citizenship are the only requirements.

Newt has done a great job being an ambassador for Trump. Although it's nauseating watching him and Hannity suck face every night.

No, I think you're wrong about that. I don't believe the speaker has to come from the members of the HOT.

Pretty sure Newt's name was floated around last time.

I stand corrected. I know of no example where a person was not a sitting Congressman, but apparently they do not have to be a member of the U.S. Congress.

I think this could have been a problem as well. That said he does have the skill set.
