Obama conducted himself in a better way than Trump has. He never said he'd consider a full Muslim ban like Trump has. Trump is openly bigoted and doesn't get the benefit of the doubt that the more covert bigot Obama got.

It would have been challenged. Any group challenging it would have been labeled as "fascist" or "xenophobic" and the courts would have either dismissed the challenge or upheld it and then Obama would have ignored it with no consequences (which happened).

Trump could write an EO reaffirming that July 4th is Independence Day and the left would find some judge to strike it down

I don't think the void is a big as you probably believe, namely because it is difficult to measure when they're treated much differently by the media in general. That being said, in a vacuum, Obama's approach probably made him more effective in this particular arena.

It would have, but as usual the liberal media would have done their thing as always. They didn't even question Obama's "vetting" process...because there wasn't one. Trump's EO was necessary for this because it is impossible to vet these crazy Muslims without something like this. Obama being a Muslim sympathizer would never inconvenience them or tarnish whatever he holds dear to his pathetic legacy for our safety.
