If something on the scale of 9-11 happened today

Would we see our country unite and everyone become patriotic like in 2001 or would the liberals dig their heels in even harder on Islam and globalism? It's just baffling to me how much this country has changed over a short period of time.

There would definitely be less coming together. This country is MUCH more morally relativistic now than 16 years ago, and in many circles, an attack of that scale would be rationalized as "freedom fighters fighting for their own version of freedom".

I disagree. The Orlando shooting was a great case study. Islam vs. gays was an interesting battle to watch.

Doubtful, as bad as W was overall, he did pull the country together in a way that Trump probably isn't capable of doing. As far as the second part of your question is concerned, conservatives won't be any more rational than libs if something like that happened today. The reaction/response would likely dwarf Bush's.

They would blame it on Trump and the riot/race bating media would do what they do, brainwash and rile up the liberals until they not only attack whoever doesn't agree with them, they'll turn on each. Hopefully I'm overreacting but the last couple of days have been absolutely disturbing.

Nope. It would be Trumps fault and when that narrative ran out of steam it would be Bush's fault. The media would act as if Obozo had no responsibility for it and the real idiots on the left (MSNBC etc...) would ultimately say that had Obozo still been in office it would've never happened. Then they will try and guilt middle America for being complicit in the terrorist act because they didn't vote for Hillary.
