Trump could be imprisoned up to 20 years if convicted in Georgia State Court for the charges he was arraigned on.

Many here believe there will be some miraculous intervening cause that will disrupt reality, but he is facing trial in a very hostile district against evidence that has been reviewed by a grand jury. The possibility of state prison time is real.

Don't think so? See Edwin Edwards.

I don't see how they could keep him in any cell except solitary given his status as former president. I am aware of no laws that would allow him to serve his time in a federal facility. I am certain the Georgia State prison is as unforgiving as Angola.

I wish we weren't in this position at all. Having to even debate this question reminds me we are in dark days not seen since Watergate or the Kennedy assassination.

Angola is for prisoners who never get out, 25 to life or death penalty.

If convicted he would likely be given a suspended sentence or probation. It’s not practical to imprison a former POTUS, even in that liberal district.

I look for him to try to change the venue to MTG's district. Probably get acquitted there.

Trump will be running the place within 24 hours. He’ll go full Jim Jones on them and have the inmates worshipping him.

He can't go to prison. The Secret Service wouldn't allow it. They may sentence him to house arrest though and make him stay at Mar A Lago.

That would be interesting. Because I doubt he would stay there and what would GA then do? Send police to Florida to extradite him? Wait until he was in New York and try to have him arrested there and extradite him.

My understanding is, GA couldn’t enforce their arrangement across a border without the cooperation of the state Trump would be in - GA can’t send police across state lines to arrest Trump and haul him back.
