This is great! Now let's fix our criminal justice system so people getting caught with a gram of pot aren't going to jail! I'm not suggesting we stop enforcing the law. I'm suggesting we change it.
For those who disagree, please answer this: Why should the law stay the way it is? One good reason. Please. Educate me.

Should a minor illegal activity get you thrown in jail? One that doesn't infringe on anyone's right to life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness? Should anything be illegal that doesn't infringe on someone else's right to life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness? Give me an argument for why we shouldn't change the law. Other than trying to protect the private prison industry.

Illegal = against the law as currently on the books
No illegal activity = no arrest = no punishment

This is not what the thread is about (unless you think MS13 members should get a slap on the wrist and be let go) but do go ahead and start a petition to change whatever law you have a problem with. That's what this country is all about, the rule of law and established procedures!

You're right. I'll make a new thread later. Funny how no one can answer my question though. I even prefaced it with I'm not suggesting we stop enforcing the law but everyone clings to that anyway. Really poor comprehension skills today.

if you want to change the law, than do it, go get 100,000 signatures to get it on the ballet, take up a collection to advertise why you think the law should be changed, if not enough people will vote for the law to be changed then maybe you should ask YOURSELF why.
