I thought Hillary signing books at CostCo was a joke

I'm sure that I'm late to the party, but I am honestly surprised that even she would set aside any last shreds of dignity like this. If I had her money and an image to protect, there's no way I set myself up for this punch line grab bag.

The Clinton list of requirements for this event was like 5 pages long. They wouldn't allow other samplers to appear in the store, no employees were allowed to approach her under risk of termination, they essentially closed that 1/5th of the store so that she wouldn't have the indignity of seeing customers shopping for OJ while she was appearing, etc.
My company sells into Costco so I got some of the scoop. Costco sells more high profile books now than Barnes and Noble does. This appearance was a key part of her lucrative book deal because the publishers need to bend the knee to Costco.

that actually makes tons of sense. no one goes to the book store to buy books, but some premium shelf space at a one stop shop...I can see a lot of people saying what the frick and throwing it in

The Clintons wanted to construct a huge "set" that would hide this aspect of the appearance, they wanted to avoid having the racks and pallets of merchandise in the same shot as her signing, but Costco was adamant that it look like a Costco store.

She is getting more and more of a loose tongue as her appearances increase. It's almost like she feels like she needs to add some new interesting anecdote for each interview she does.

From a selling standpoint, love or hate her, this is something that people will buy as opposed to some memoir that only fans would care about.

I would hope prime time interviews on every network, constant news coverage, and not to mention an appearance on the view (I don't know if it is still, but it was a daytime juggernaut)would make it one of the fastest selling books in years.
I can't think of a book that's ever had more publicity.

Fair enough, but with a 9 figure bank account, there is no way I take a couple million more to have this image live in perpetuity.
