How many of you have considered attending an alt-right/nationalist gathering?

Did you end up going?
Why? Why not?
If you have gone to one, what was it like?

I like to think most on here have strong opinions but are not the type to join either of those shite shows.
ETA: I thought you said alt left as well as alt right.

Define "alt-right"?
And I thought the leftists were self describing as "nationalist" now.
This shites confusing. Extremism just sucks, period.

That's fair... Have you gone to one or thought about going to one?

First off, I have better things to do. Second, I think the definition of alt right needs to be better described. Hell during the campaign i thought alt right meant if you laughed at Pepe meme's and were sick of the PC push.

I said alt-right, considering the nature of the Poli board in general, but there are alt-lefters on this board as well, so I'll extend the question.

Ok -
Let's consider the group that DID attend the Unite the Right gathering in Charlottesville. It was a mixed bag of white supremacists / white nationalists.
I'm not talking about the counter-protesters, I'm talking about the Unite the Right crowd exclusively. Do you think they define themselves as the alt-right?

I don't have a hand up my arse

You still need to better frame your question. If you are meaning anything close to what happened in Va, then hell no. If it was a bunch of people drawing pepe cartoons then I would think about it if they were serving free beer.

What would be the purpose of a get together to draw pepe cartoons? See who can draw him the best?

Dankest memes, of course

I am sure they do. Most people a year ago viewed the alt right as being conservatives that were sick of the establishment. It wasn't exactly a party with party bullet points of what your beliefs had to be to consider yourself a part of alt right. The more extremist side has taken over the mantle which is why i was wanting you to clarify.

When I was in elementary school back in the 80s our school had play about the American Revolution. If I recall correctly the content of the play was about 95% pro-America / anti-British. The celebration of the founding fathers was virtually unequivocal. The crowd did the Pledge of Allegiance before the play and sang My Country Tis of Thee after the play. I'd pretty much describe it as a "nationalist" gathering.

Yes, I was Ben Franklin.

Was required.

Objectively horrible theater I'm sure, but our parents thought we were just the best.

The "free beer" should have given you a hint that it was tongue in cheek.
I have better things to do than go to any political gathering especially any fringe gathering.

Do they send out engraved invitations?
