If you're someone who owns a small business and you don't have anyone to pay you paid sick leave, and then you're forced to stop working for a long period, how do you survive?

The left wing is hoping they don't. They see this virus as a political opportunity and could care less about the welfare of the citizens

I empathize and it is horrible. I hope most small businesses were smart and took having a healthy balance sheet very seriously.

"If you can't afford to pay your employees during this, you don't deserve to be in business"

Literally heard this earlier today from and early 20's "educated" person

Ask the restaurants and bars that are being forced to close... Most will not survive if they are small businesses...

if i dont make cuts and/or lay people off, maybe 2 months at this rate.

ive always kept 6 months operating costs available as cash in savings, but that was assuming a sustained worst case scenario of 50% reduction in revenue for that time frame.

its looking like an 80% reduction in revune for me right now.

The problem is, most small businesses (and even non-small businesses) can't function if they are forced to shut down for months. My Dad's business always makes payroll, but the idea of not working for weeks is unimaginable.

I'm way more concerned about small businesses than big corporations in the long run.

Disney and Google and Exxon are going to be around just fine after all this.

Small businesses are the ones in real danger.

According to the financial geniuses around here, just go buy gift certificates from them and that will handle it.

And that same 20 year old wants the government to give him $1000 to help him through theses hard times.

You don’t/aren’t suppose to. Take your $2k per month UBI and live modestly. Don’t question your federal government.

forced to shut down for months

That's the key point for us. Approximately 40% of our business is overseas, and 2/3rds of our competition is overseas.

If we have to shutdown for several months, not only do we lose that revenue stream for that time frame; we very well could lose some of them for longer durations as our competitors will have the opportunity to step in and serve them.

Hard work and a good drive, like how the right believes all small businesses succeed?

On a serious note, they'll get help from the evil government to save them.
