The shame is there are obviously a lot of good people in there that are in a better situation having gotten away. There is also no doubt mass refugee populations bring trouble too though.

We are all Americans, not just the left and right. At some point, why can't we just recognize a threat and agree that it is too risky?
The liberal take is that any group that is a minority (especially when they would be so in this country) automatically has the moral high ground because of the innate oppression they feel just from not being in the majority. They believe their empathy precludes them from being victims of those groups.

To me this is the biggest part of the problem. The more of them that come to the West in large masses, the less they feel the need to assimilate to our culture. The "strength in numbers" mindset kicks in and they believe it's the West that needs to assimilate to their culture.
