I wonder what would have happened if certain conservative money men hadn't bought off Michael Jackson to run as an independent?

Okay, if E. Edwards is the next 6th District congressman I owe you $1,000.

If not you owe me $100.

Right?

No "ifs" or "buts."

Congressman EWE, yes or no. That's the bet.

also how can i trust you to actually pay? On my end $100 isn't a big hit but i can easily see someone sliming their way out of $1000 payoff.

I wouldn't laugh too hard. I could see some ignorant people standing in the booth thinking, "Edwards. I've heard of that cat," and pulling the lever.

Wouldn't that work twice as well in that same district for a candidate named "Paul Dietzel?"

Someone should tell young Paul here that when he gives a televised interview, it's probably not a good idea to stand in front of a row of World Book Encyclopedias if you're trying to appear mature.

Dan Claitor is running for this congressional seat and will most likely win.

That set is evidently at a Fox affiliate or uplink facility either in NO or BR. Carville uses thst set when he appears on O'Reilly. I wouldn't consider it practical to carry around your own set everywhere you go.

Nevertheless, another insightful, informative, substantive post by Vegas Bengal.

I find it ridiculous that if some of the people in this thread had met Paul a year ago you would think "wow, this is a bright young man that has done very well for himself, good for him" but as soon as he enters a political race he's a empty suit douche with no knowledge or skills.

I think it has a lot to do with his delivery. Instead of talking about issues, solutions, ect, he just spouts talking points and glittering generalities. That's the epitome of an empty suit. Hopefully, he'll prove me wrong, but that's the perception of him that I've had up to this point.

That's about 99% of politicians.

He seemed a bit unsure of himself and was utterly inexpressive in his body language. Maybe he's good stump-speaking?

Exactly. If you're going to be an empty suit, you have to commit to it. He seems unsure of himself. We'll see if he finds his stride or his voice.

I'm pretty sure my ability to pay $1,000 is stronger than your ability to pay $100.

So you can decide how to escrow the payments until the election, within reason. Last chance.....

I'm not a betting man, but I think you underestimate both Edwin Edwards' personal appeal and the stupidity of the average Louisiana voter.

I saw Edwin a little over a year ago at TJ Ribs on Siegen. He came over and visited our table, said hello to everyone. Love him or hate him, the guy has charisma to burn, and he definitely knows how to work a room. Most voters don't bother to even try to get past those superficialities.
